DPS to Start Morning Metro Shuttle
As a number of CUA students and staff who use
Metro to commute to campus each morning have expressed safety concerns, I am pleased to
announce that the Department of Public Safety will begin to operate a morning shuttle bus
service in the near future.
During this pilot program, the shuttle will operate from 7 a.m. until 9
a.m., Monday-Friday. The route will be: start at the CUA Metro, proceed to McMahon Hall,
then up to Marist Hall, and finally return back to the CUA Metro. This Metro shuttle loop
will run at ten (10) minutes intervals. We are happy to provide this program to the CUA
community, but please note that continuation of the morning Metro shuttle will depend on
its use. As there remain some details yet to be worked out, more information will follow.
Also, the DPS has recently purchased a speed enforcement tool, better
known as a radar gun. Radar Enforcement will began at various locations throughout the
campus. Fines for speeding violations will vary with the infraction.
The purchase and use of a radar gun is a proactive response to an
increasing number of complaints from students, faculty and staff about vehicles speeding
through campus. All are reminded that the speed limit throughout the University is 15
miles per hour.
